COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Management BSc (Hons) program with foundation year is designed to develop both academic and professional skills across four years of study. In Year 0, students build essential foundations through modules such as academic research skills, applied mathematics in the built environment, and digital literacy, preparing them for degree-level learning. In Year 1, the focus shifts to core construction principles, including construction technology, site engineering, building services, materials science, and design and management processes, providing a solid understanding of the built environment. In Year 2, students advance their knowledge with more specialised topics such as advanced construction technology, site engineering and surveying, building pathology, environmental science, sustainability, and project management, helping them understand complex construction challenges. In the final year, the course emphasises professional practice and leadership, with modules covering fire safety, construction management practice, sustainable built environments, and development finance and risk. Students also complete an applied research project and may undertake a professional placement to gain real-world experience. Overall, the program combines technical knowledge, management skills, and practical experience, preparing graduates for successful careers in construction management and related fields within the built environment industry.
