COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Networking and Cyber Security BSc (Hons) with foundation year is structured over four years to develop both foundational and advanced skills in networking and cybersecurity. In Year 0, students build essential knowledge through modules such as Cyber Security Fundamentals, Programming, Mathematics, and an introduction to Robotics and the Internet of Things, preparing them for degree-level study. In Year 1, the focus shifts to core computing and networking concepts, including Communications Engineering, Fundamentals of Computing, Information Systems, Networking Concepts aligned with CCNA certifications, and Programming. Year 2 introduces more specialised topics such as Cloud Computing, Cyber Security in Computing, Enterprise Networks and Security, and Risk and Crisis Management, alongside professional and ethical considerations and data analysis skills. In the final year, students concentrate on advanced cybersecurity areas, including Ethical Hacking, Network Security, and Network and Cloud Security. They also undertake a major project and engage in career development learning to prepare for employment. Overall, the course combines theoretical understanding with practical application, equipping students with the skills needed to protect systems and networks and pursue careers in the cybersecurity and networking industries.
