COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dietetics and Nutrition BSc (Hons) degree is a four-year program that combines scientific knowledge with practical training to prepare students for careers as dietitians or nutritionists. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in human biology, biochemistry, and nutrition through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry for Life Sciences, Essentials of Human Nutrition, Introduction to Human Nutrition, Applied Health Psychology, and Health, Society and Behaviour. Year 2 focuses on applied dietetics and professional practice, with modules covering Dietary Assessment Techniques, Food Science, Macro and Micronutrients, Metabolic Biochemistry, Nutrition and Dietetic Care, Management of Disease, Public Health Nutrition, and Practice Based Learning 1, providing students with hands-on experience in clinical and community settings. In Year 3, students progress to advanced modules such as Clinical Dietetics 2, Nutrition Through the Lifecycle, Systems Pathology, Techniques in Dietetic and Nutrition Research, and Practice Based Learning 2, further developing practical skills and professional competence. Year 4 consolidates learning with Applied Dietetics and Nutrition, a Dietetics and Nutrition Research Project, Management of Health and Social Care, and Practice Based Learning 3, offering extensive placement experience. The program integrates theoretical knowledge, research, and professional practice, ensuring graduates are equipped to deliver evidence-based nutritional care and excel in clinical, public health, or community dietetics.
