COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Psychology and Coaching BSc (Hons) at London Metropolitan University provides a structured, science-based education in sport, coaching, and human performance across three progressive years of study. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Applied Sports Science, Essential Principles of Effective Coaching and Teaching, Foundations of Sport Psychology, Human Physiology, Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Introduction to Biomechanics, Physiological Principles of Training, and Professional and Core Skills, which together develop an understanding of how the human body and mind function in sport. In Year 2, learning becomes more advanced and applied with modules including Advanced Delivery of Coaching Practice, Exercise Physiology and Environmental Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics of Human Movement, Sports Science Research Methods, and sport psychology topics focused on individual performance and group dynamics, alongside Sociology of Effective Coaching and Teaching and community engagement through Empowering London. In Year 3, students focus on professional application and specialisation through Coaching Pedagogy and Practical Application, Sport Psychology in Elite and Real-World Contexts, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Human Movement Analysis, and Business Developments in Sport, as well as a Sports Science and Therapy Dissertation. Overall, the course prepares graduates for careers in coaching, sports science, and performance support by combining scientific knowledge, psychological understanding, research skills, and practical coaching experience in real-world environments.
