COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Real Estate program at London Metropolitan University is structured across three progressive years of study that build both theoretical understanding and practical industry skills. In Year 1, students are introduced to the foundations of the built environment through modules such as Built Environment Principles, Construction Technology and Building Services, Real Estate Economics and Valuation, and Real Estate Law and Planning, which provide essential knowledge of how property markets, construction systems, and legal frameworks operate. In Year 2, learning becomes more applied with modules including Accounting for Real Estate, Applied Valuation, Building Pathology and Refurbishment, Real Estate Asset Management, Real Estate Development, and Urban Regeneration, helping students develop analytical and problem-solving skills for real-world property challenges. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and specialist topics such as Advanced Valuation, Commercial Real Estate Practice, Sustainable Real Estate, Development, Finance and Risk, and Big Data and the Built Environment, alongside Inclusive Teamwork and Leadership. They also complete an Applied Research Project and may undertake a Professional Placement in the Built Environment, allowing them to gain valuable industry experience. Overall, the program ensures graduates are well-prepared for professional roles in real estate, combining technical expertise, research ability, sustainability awareness, and practical workplace experience across the property and construction sectors.
