COURSE CURRICULUM

The Nursing (Adult) BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years, with each year building progressively on knowledge, clinical skills, and professional development. In Year 1, students are introduced to the foundations of professional practice and adult nursing within primary, community, and social care settings. They study biosciences relevant to nursing, explore concepts of health and wellbeing, and complete their first practice placement to gain hands-on clinical experience. Year 2 focuses on developing adult care skills within the acute sector, preparing students to work in hospital and specialized healthcare environments. Modules include nursing consultation, pharmacology and medicines management, and working with the evidence base to support informed clinical decision-making. Students also complete a second practice placement to strengthen their practical competencies. In Year 3, the emphasis shifts toward leadership, collaboration, and integrated care in professional practice. Students undertake a final practice placement and complete a dissertation through the Research, Innovation and Improvement module. This final year prepares graduates to take on greater responsibility, apply research to practice, and transition confidently into their roles as qualified adult nurses.
