COURSE CURRICULUM

The Music Technology and Production BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years, developing students’ creative and technical skills in music and audio production. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Audio Theory and Practice, Electronic Music Production, Introduction to Mixing and Mastering, Music Theory for Songwriters, and Sound Design for Linear Media. They also gain essential digital, research, and industry knowledge through Digital Skills, Writing and Research Skills, and Music Industry studies. In Year 2, students advance their practical abilities with modules including Advanced Music Production, Advanced Songwriting, Recording Studio Practice, Location Sound and Dialogue Production, and Sound Design for Games. This stage also allows exploration of related media fields such as podcasting, film, and photography, broadening creative and professional understanding. In Year 3, students focus on specialised and professional-level work, including Advanced Studio Engineering, Audio Mastering and Remastering, and Music Production Portfolio Development. They also complete a Creative Practice or Research Dissertation Project, alongside a research project in music technology. Additional modules support career preparation and creative expansion. Overall, the program equips students with advanced technical expertise, creative skills, and industry awareness, preparing them for careers in music production, audio engineering, and sound design.
