COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dietetics BSc (Hons) degree is a three-year program designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to become qualified dietitians. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in human biology and nutrition through modules such as Anatomy and Physiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Essentials of Human Nutrition, and Introduction to Human Nutrition. Applied Health Psychology, Health, Society and Behaviour, Management of Disease, and Professional Practice in Dietetics and Nutrition develop understanding of the wider social and clinical context of dietetic practice, while Practice Based Learning 1 provides initial hands-on experience in real-world settings. Year 2 focuses on applied dietetics, with modules covering Food Science, Macro and Micronutrients, Metabolic Biochemistry, Nutrition and Dietetic Care, Nutrition Through the Lifecycle, Public Health Nutrition, and Systems Pathology. Public Health Practice Based Learning allows students to apply knowledge in professional settings, enhancing clinical and community experience. In Year 3, students consolidate their learning through advanced research and practice, completing a Dietetics and Nutrition Research Project, modules on Management of Health and Social Care, and Practice Based Learning 2 and 3, which provide extensive professional exposure. Techniques in Dietetic and Nutrition Research further develop analytical skills, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to deliver evidence-based nutrition care and enter the profession as competent, qualified dietitians ready to support individuals and communities.
