COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Management BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to develop a strong understanding of construction principles, technical knowledge, and professional skills. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of the built environment, including construction technology, site engineering, building services, materials science, and design and management processes, providing a solid foundation for further study. In Year 2, the course advances into more specialised areas such as advanced construction technology, site engineering and surveying, building pathology and refurbishment, environmental science and sustainability, and project management with contract administration. This stage helps students understand complex construction systems and develop practical problem-solving skills. In Year 3, the focus shifts to professional practice and leadership, with modules covering advanced fire safety, construction management practice, sustainable built environments, and development, finance, and risk. Students also complete an applied research project and have the opportunity to undertake a professional placement, gaining valuable real-world experience. Additional topics such as big data in the built environment and inclusive teamwork further enhance their employability. Overall, the program combines theory, practical learning, and industry experience, preparing graduates for successful careers in construction management and related fields.
