COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of construction, design, and the built environment. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation by studying key topics such as construction technology, building services, materials science, structural principles, and construction site engineering, alongside design, procurement, and management processes. The second year builds on this knowledge with more advanced subjects, including construction technology and structures, site engineering and surveying, and building refurbishment. Students also engage in design studio work, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in practical contexts, while gaining awareness of environmental science and sustainability in construction. In the final year, the focus shifts to specialised and professional areas such as advanced fire safety, project management, contract practice, and sustainable built environments. Students also explore emerging topics like big data in construction and development finance, while developing leadership and teamwork skills. The program includes opportunities for professional placement, providing valuable real-world experience. Overall, the course combines technical knowledge, practical application, and industry-focused skills, preparing graduates for successful careers in architectural technology and related fields within the construction industry.
