COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Systems Engineering and Robotics BEng (Hons) with foundation year is structured over four years to develop strong skills in computing, engineering, and robotics. In Year 0, students build essential knowledge through modules such as Cyber Security Fundamentals, Programming, Mathematics, and an introduction to Robotics and the Internet of Things, preparing them for degree-level study. In Year 1, the focus is on core technical concepts, including Computer Hardware and Software Architectures, Electronics Systems, Logic, and Programming, providing a solid foundation in both computing and engineering principles. Year 2 advances this knowledge with more specialised modules such as Advanced Electronics Systems, Microprocessors and Embedded Systems, Databases, Network Operating Systems, and Data Structures, alongside work-related learning to gain practical experience. In the final year, students explore advanced and industry-relevant topics including Applied Robotics, Computer Vision, IoT Systems and Security, Wireless Networks, and Network Security. They also complete a major project that integrates their learning and demonstrates their technical abilities. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing graduates for careers in robotics, computer systems engineering, and related technology fields.
