COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Engineering BEng (Hons) curriculum is structured across three years to progressively develop students’ knowledge and practical skills in both engineering and biological sciences. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation by studying core subjects such as Communications Engineering, Data Analysis, and Electronic Systems, alongside biological topics including Human Physiology, Fundamentals of Musculoskeletal Anatomy, and Introduction to Biomechanics. This combination ensures a balanced understanding of both technical and human systems. In Year 2, the course advances into more specialized and applied areas, including Advanced Electronic Systems, Microprocessors and Embedded Systems, Sensors and Control, and Network Operating Systems. Students also explore Biomechanical Applications and Human Movement, while gaining valuable practical experience through work-related learning opportunities. By Year 3, the focus shifts toward cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications, with modules such as Bio-inspired AI and Security, Computer Vision, IoT Systems and Security, Wireless Networks, and Digital Systems Applications. Students also study Human Movement Analysis and complete a major project that allows them to integrate and apply their knowledge. Overall, the program equips students with a diverse and industry-relevant skill set for careers in biomedical engineering.
