COURSE CURRICULUM

Interior Design (including foundation year) BA (Hons) is structured across four years, beginning with a foundation year and progressing through three levels of specialist study. In Year 0, students undertake Critical & Contextual Studies: Foundation, Critical Creative Practice, Project, and Techniques, which introduce essential creative thinking, practical skills, and academic approaches to design. These modules help students build confidence and develop a strong base for further study. In Year 1, learners progress to core interior design principles through Critical & Contextual Studies 1 (Interiors), Design Principles for Interiors, Interior Design Communication and Techniques, and Spatial Design, focusing on visual communication and spatial awareness. In Year 2, the emphasis shifts to refinement and application with Critical & Contextual Studies 2 (Interiors), Design Details, Human Scale, and Interior Design Practices and Techniques, strengthening technical understanding and user-centred design. In Year 3, students engage in advanced independent work through Critical & Contextual Studies 3: Dissertation (Interiors), Integrated Design Practice, Major Project Realisation: Interior Design, and Project Design and Development for Interiors, culminating in a substantial final project that demonstrates professional capability and creative maturity across research, design development, and execution.
