COURSE CURRICULUM

Interior Design and Decoration (including foundation year) BA (Hons) is structured across four years of study, beginning with a foundation year and progressing through three levels of specialist interior design education. In Year 0, students study Critical & Contextual Studies: Foundation, Critical Creative Practice, Project, and Techniques, which introduce essential creative thinking, making skills, and exploratory studio practice for design learning. In Year 1, learners develop core knowledge through Critical & Contextual Studies 1 (Interiors), Design Principles for Interiors, Interior Design Communication and Techniques, and Spatial Design, focusing on spatial awareness and communication skills. In Year 2, study advances with Critical & Contextual Studies 2 (Interiors), Design Details, Human Scale, and Interior Design Practices and Techniques, emphasising refinement, user-centred thinking, and technical development. In Year 3, students complete Critical & Contextual Studies 3: Dissertation (Interiors), Integrated Design Practice, Major Project Realisation: Interior Design and Decoration, and Project Design and Development for Interiors, culminating in an independent final project. Across all years, the program builds progressive skills in design thinking, technical ability, research, and professional practice, ensuring students are prepared for careers in interior design and related creative industries with confidence and industry awareness and strong portfolio development outcomes upon graduation success achieved.
