COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion (including foundation year) BA (Hons) degree offers a structured four-year pathway for students who do not have traditional qualifications or do not meet the standard entry requirements for higher education. The program begins with a foundation year where students develop essential academic and creative skills, including critical and contextual studies, techniques, and project work, providing a solid base for further study. This year emphasizes understanding the context of fashion and creative industries, as well as practical skills needed for studio and workshop work. In Year 1, students explore 3D design principles, visual research, and communication, alongside critical and contextual studies, and develop hands-on skills through workshop practice. Year 2 builds on these foundations with more advanced 3D design realization, development, and professional practice, alongside continued critical and contextual studies. In the final year, students undertake 3D design and development projects, a dissertation in critical and contextual studies, and a major project resolution focused on fashion, preparing them for professional practice and employment. Across all years, students are encouraged to develop creativity, technical proficiency, and conceptual understanding, producing a portfolio that demonstrates their abilities. The course combines studio-based learning with academic study, equipping graduates for careers in fashion design, production, styling, or related fields, as well as opportunities for further study.
