COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Photography BA (Hons) with a foundation year at London Metropolitan University is structured to develop technical skills, creative practice, and critical understanding across four years of study. The foundation year introduces students to essential photography and visual arts skills through modules such as Critical and Contextual Studies: Foundation, Critical Creative Practice, Project, and Techniques, providing a strong base for undergraduate-level work. In the first year, students build on this foundation with Critical and Contextual Studies in Photography and Fashion Photography, Looking and Making 1, Project Work 1, and Techniques: Photography, focusing on observation, practical skills, and the development of personal creative expression. The second year expands learning through Critical and Contextual Studies 2, Looking and Making 2, Professional Practice 1: Photography, and Project Work 2, emphasizing applied industry experience, professional practice, and the refinement of technical and conceptual skills. In the final year, students undertake advanced study and independent projects through Critical and Contextual Studies: Dissertation, Looking and Making 3, Major Project, and Professional Practice 2: Fashion Photography, integrating research, creative development, and industry preparation. Across all years, the program encourages exploration of contemporary fashion and photography, cultivating a portfolio of work, professional experience, and critical insight, preparing graduates for careers in fashion photography, creative industries, and related visual media professions.
