COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion Marketing and Journalism BA (Hons) with a foundation year at London Metropolitan University is designed to develop both creative and professional skills across media, marketing, and fashion. The foundation year equips students with essential academic skills and practical media experience through modules such as Making News for TV, Media Contexts, Pop, Pulp and Politics, Studio Craft in InDesign, Photoshop, Filmmaking, Music Video Production, and Writing for Media, preparing them for undergraduate-level study. In the first year, students build core knowledge in journalism and marketing with modules including Audio and Video Techniques, History of Journalism in Context, Introduction to Fashion Journalism and Communications, Journalism Perspectives and Ideas, Mobile Journalism, Practice of Marketing, Principles of Marketing, and Reporting News and Features. The second year emphasizes applied industry experience, collaborative projects, media law and ethics, newsroom production, digital project management, online fashion retailing, documentary photography, podcast production, styling, and screenwriting, alongside work placements to develop employability skills. In the final year, students focus on advanced journalism, creative projects, consultancy, dissertation work, magazine branding, fashion writing and reporting, digital post-production, documentary filmmaking, media research, and specialized topics such as queer media, postcolonial cinema, and interaction design. Across all three years, the course equips graduates with a unique combination of fashion, marketing, and journalism skills, preparing them for diverse roles in media, fashion communication, and creative industries.
