COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics BSc (Hons) degree with a foundation year is a comprehensive four-year program designed to develop students’ understanding of economic theory, quantitative methods, and practical applications. The foundation year equips students with essential academic skills and introductory knowledge in economics, finance, mathematics, and data management, providing a solid base to progress into the standard degree modules. In Year 1, students build core economic knowledge and analytical skills through modules such as Data Science, Research and Analysis, Introduction to Financial Markets and Institutions, Management Accounting Fundamentals, Maths and Stats for Economics and Finance, Political and Social Aspects of Economics, Principles of Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, and Understanding and Managing Data. Year 2 focuses on applied economics, finance, and professional skills, with modules covering Applied Macroeconomics, Applied Microeconomics, Labour Economics, Principles of Econometrics, Principles of Finance, Problem Solving, Sustainability, Business and Responsibility, and opportunities for experiential learning through Creating a Winning Business, Empowering London, and Learning through Work. In Year 3, students deepen their expertise through advanced modules including Development Economics, International Trade and Finance, Financial and Economic Modelling, Financial Engineering, Financial Instruments, Issues in Labour Markets, and Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in Business, alongside completing a dissertation and professional experience placement. The program prepares graduates for careers in finance, economics, business, policy, and research, equipping them with analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
