COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital Media BA (Hons) with foundation year is a four-year program designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the digital media sector. In Year 0, the foundation year introduces essential study skills and creative practice, with modules covering media production, such as Making News for TV, Studio Craft in Photoshop, InDesign, Filmmaking, Music Video Production, and Writing for Media, as well as theoretical understanding through Media Contexts and Pop, Pulp and Politics. Year 1 builds technical and creative skills with modules in 2D Computer Animation, 3D Modelling and Texturing, Digital Imaging, Game Design, Interaction Design, Moving Image Practice, Digital Skills, and Writing and Research Skills, giving students a broad base in both digital and interactive media. Year 2 focuses on applied and specialised areas including Augmented Reality Design, Creative Coding, Motion Branding, Social Media Strategies, Web Design, Digital Project Management, Documentary Photography, Film and TV Industry Studies, Podcast Production, Popular Music, Styling and Journalism, and Introduction to Screenwriting, preparing students for professional practice. In Year 3, students consolidate their learning with advanced and independent projects, including App Design, Creative Practice and Research Dissertation Projects, UX Design, Virtual Reality Design, Audio Plug-in Coding, Digital Video Post Production, Documentary Filmmaking, Campaigning Journalism, Graphical Communications, and studies in media culture such as Queer Media, Postcolonial Cinema, Urban Media, and Arts, Culture, and Lifestyle Journalism, ensuring graduates are ready for a wide range of careers in digital media and communications.
