COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance (including foundation year) BA (Hons) program is structured to provide a comprehensive pathway from foundational study to advanced professional knowledge. The foundation year focuses on developing academic skills, encouraging students to explore social science and current affairs topics while building confidence in research, critical thinking, and independent learning. In year one, students are introduced to core business and accounting subjects, including financial accounting, management accounting, business law and ethics, financial markets, and management information systems, alongside developing analytical and organisational skills. Year two builds on this foundation with more specialised modules such as company and business law, taxation, performance management, and principles of finance, as well as opportunities for practical learning through community engagement, project management, and work-based experiences. In year three, students study advanced topics including financial reporting, audit and assurance, financial management, and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence and big data in business. They also explore areas like international banking, trade, and financial instruments. A key component of the final year is the dissertation, where students conduct independent research on a chosen topic. Additionally, there is an option for a professional placement year, providing valuable real-world experience and enhancing employability in the accounting and finance sector.
