COURSE CURRICULUM

The Theatre and Performance BA (Hons) at London Metropolitan University is a practice-based degree that prepares students for a wide range of careers in the theatre and performing arts industry. In Year 1, students develop core creative and performance skills through modules such as Acting and Performance Skills 1, Devising, Objects, Image and Design, and Performance, Art and Film Ideas 1, which introduce them to fundamental techniques in performance-making and creative expression. In Year 2, students build on these foundations with more advanced and specialised study, including Acting and Performance Skills 2, Theatre Production, Choreography, Directing 1, Dramaturgy, Workshop Leadership, and Performance, Art and Film Ideas 2, allowing them to explore different roles within theatre-making and develop collaborative and leadership abilities. In Year 3, students focus on professional practice and independent creative work through modules such as Festival Showcase, Performance Research and Development, Collaborative Project, Directing 2, Independent Project, Installation and Live Art, Producing, and Writing for Theatre and Performance. This final year enables students to refine their artistic identity, produce original work, and gain experience in presenting performances to public audiences. Overall, the program equips graduates with creative, technical, and professional skills for careers in acting, directing, producing, writing, and broader performance and live art practices.
