COURSE CURRICULUM

The Photography BA (Hons) program is structured over three years and combines creative practice, technical development, and critical study to prepare students for careers in photography and the wider creative industries. In Year 1, students are introduced to core ideas and skills through modules such as Critical and Contextual Studies in Photography and Fashion Photography, Looking and Making, Project Work, and Techniques: Photography. This stage focuses on building foundational knowledge, practical ability, and an understanding of photographic concepts and methods. In Year 2, students develop their practice further through more advanced modules including Professional Practice in Photography, expanded Critical and Contextual Studies, Looking and Making 2, and Project Work 2. This year places greater emphasis on developing a personal creative direction while also introducing professional awareness and industry expectations. In Year 3, students undertake more independent and specialised study through a Critical and Contextual Studies Dissertation, a Major Project, advanced Looking and Making 3, and Professional Practice 2. This final stage allows students to refine their individual style, complete substantial creative work, and prepare for entry into the professional world. Overall, the course develops both artistic vision and technical expertise, equipping graduates with the skills needed for successful careers in photography.
