COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media and Marketing BA (Hons) program is structured over three years, combining media studies with marketing knowledge and practical skills. In Year 1, students build a foundation through modules such as Communication and Image, Media and Society, Media Genres, and Media Histories, alongside Digital Skills and key business subjects including Practice of Marketing, Principles of Marketing, and Principles of Management. This stage introduces both creative and commercial perspectives. In Year 2, students expand their understanding of media production and marketing strategy through modules such as Contemporary Television, Media and Communities, Visual Cultures, Digital Marketing, Marketing Communications, and Social Media Strategies. Practical and professional skills are developed through Digital Project Management, Documentary Photography, Podcast Production, and writing for film, while subjects like International Business and Sustainability add broader context. In Year 3, students focus on advanced and specialised topics including Brand Management, Corporate Communications, Urban Media, and Genders and Identities. Creative and technical skills are further developed through modules such as Documentary Filmmaking and Digital Video Post Production. The course culminates in a Creative Practice or Research Dissertation Project, alongside career development learning. Overall, the program equips students with creative, analytical, and professional skills for careers in media, marketing, and related industries.
