COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematical Sciences BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years, progressively developing students’ mathematical knowledge and practical skills. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Data Analysis, Financial Mathematics, Graph Theory, Logic and Mathematical Techniques, Mathematical Proofs, and MAPLE Programming, alongside IT for Mathematics. These modules introduce key concepts and develop essential analytical and computational abilities. In Year 2, students advance their understanding with more complex topics including Algebra, Differential Equations, Computational Mathematics, Group Theory and Vector Spaces, and Statistical Methods and Modelling Markets. This stage also incorporates Project Management and Further Mathematical Techniques, allowing students to apply their learning in practical and structured ways. In Year 3, students engage with higher-level and specialised areas such as Integral and Vector Calculus, Mathematical Modelling, Analysis, Cryptography and Number Theory, and Financial Modelling and Forecasting. Additional topics such as Category Theory, Error Correcting Codes, and Mathematics of Infinity provide opportunities for deeper exploration. The program also includes an Academic Independent Study and Career Development Learning, helping students apply their knowledge and prepare for future careers. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills relevant to a wide range of industries.
