COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Interior Architecture and Design program is structured across three years of study, with modules designed to build knowledge progressively from foundational understanding to advanced professional practice. In Year 1, students are introduced to Critical and Contextual Studies 1 (Interiors), Design Principles for Interiors, Interior Design Communication and Techniques, and Spatial Design, which establish core skills in design thinking, visual communication, and spatial awareness. In Year 2, learning becomes more applied through Critical and Contextual Studies 2 (Interiors), Design Details, Human Scale, and Interior Design Practices and Techniques, focusing on refining technical abilities and understanding human-centred design. In Year 3, students engage in advanced and independent work through Critical and Contextual Studies 3: Dissertation (Interiors), Integrated Design Practice, Major Project Realisation: Interior Architecture and Design, and Project Design and Development for Interiors. This final stage emphasises research, professional practice, and the completion of a substantial design project that demonstrates creative and technical mastery. Across all three years, the course supports progressive skill development, critical thinking, and the ability to design responsive interior environments that integrate theory, practice, and real-world application effectively. This structured pathway ensures continuous growth in both creative and analytical capabilities.
