COURSE CURRICULUM

The Film and Television Production BA (Hons) at London Metropolitan University is structured over three years to develop students’ creative, technical, and professional skills for careers in film, television, and media. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Film Theory and Film Style, Post-Production, Pre-Production and Visual Storytelling, the Revolution of Film and Television, Shooting Documentary, Shooting Drama, Sound Design for Linear Media, and Writing and Research Skills. This year emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical skills, introducing students to production processes and storytelling techniques. The second year focuses on applied practice and professional engagement, with modules including Creative Filmmaking, Film Production Skills, Location Sound and Dialogue Production, Television Studio Practice, Digital Project Management, Documentary Photography, Film and TV: Industry and Politics, Journalism Industry Experience, Podcast Production, Styling and Journalism, and Short Film Screenwriting. Students gain hands-on experience while developing industry knowledge and collaborative skills. The final year advances students’ independent and creative capabilities through the Creative Practice and Research Dissertation Projects, Major Film and TV Project, Documentary Filmmaking, Digital Video Post Production, Career Development Learning, and specialized modules exploring media, culture, and technology such as Audio Plug-in Coding, Graphical Communications, Interaction Design, Postcolonial Cinema, and Queer Media. Across all three years, the program integrates practical production, critical study, and professional preparation, equipping graduates with the skills and portfolio needed for success in contemporary media industries.
