COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fashion BA (Hons) course at London Metropolitan University is structured over three years, each building on creative, technical, and professional skills. In the first year, students focus on foundational skills with modules such as 3D Design and Development 1, 3D Workshop Practice, Critical and Contextual Studies 1, and Research and Visual Communication. These introduce students to design principles, practical workshop techniques, critical thinking, and methods for visually communicating ideas. In the second year, the curriculum advances with 3D Design Realisation, 3D Design and Development 2, Critical and Contextual Studies 2, and Professional Practice 1, emphasizing the application of design concepts, more complex technical development, research-informed design, and initial engagement with industry practices. The third year centers on mastery and professional readiness, with modules including 3D Design and Development 3, Critical and Contextual Studies 3 with a dissertation, Major Project Resolution in Fashion, and Professional Practice 2. Students refine their design voice, complete a substantial final project, and consolidate industry experience. Across all three years, the course integrates practical, theoretical, and professional learning, enabling students to develop comprehensive skills in fashion design, critical analysis, and professional practice. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped to create innovative collections, communicate their ideas effectively, and confidently enter the competitive fashion industry.
