COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting and Finance BA (Hons) program is structured across three years to progressively build students’ knowledge and professional skills. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation by studying core subjects such as financial and management accounting, business law and ethics, data analysis, and an introduction to financial markets and institutions. They also gain insights into how organisations operate and how information systems support business decisions. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced and applied topics, including financial reporting, taxation (both corporate and income tax), audit and internal control, and principles of finance. Students also enhance their analytical and problem-solving abilities while exploring sustainability, project management, and the broader responsibilities of businesses. By the third year, students engage with specialist and strategic areas such as advanced financial reporting, financial management, international finance, and financial engineering. The program also includes modules on accounting theory, business strategy, and personal finance, alongside a dissertation that allows for independent research. Additionally, students have the opportunity to undertake a professional placement year, gaining valuable real-world experience. Overall, the course provides a comprehensive pathway from foundational knowledge to advanced expertise in accounting and finance.
