COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Nursing with Registered Status in Mental Health Nursing at Liverpool John Moores University is designed to develop highly skilled, safe, and accountable practitioners capable of delivering person-centred, evidence-based care. The program combines theoretical study with practical learning to ensure graduates are well-prepared to meet the complex demands of mental health nursing. Core modules focus on assessing health needs and planning and evaluating nursing care, equipping students with the ability to provide holistic and effective interventions for individuals with diverse mental health conditions. Research and evidence-based safety and quality in nursing care is emphasised to foster critical thinking, enabling students to integrate research findings into clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. Modules on managing complex care delivery, developing practice learning, and consolidating practice learning ensure students acquire advanced practical skills, build clinical competence, and gain confidence in delivering care within a variety of mental health settings. Leadership and management are also addressed, with modules designed to develop the ability to lead teams, manage services effectively, and uphold high standards of professional practice. Critical enquiry in health further strengthens analytical and reflective skills, preparing graduates to respond to the evolving challenges of mental health nursing and contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
