COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Wildlife Conservation and Technology is structured around core modules that combine research, practical training, and technological innovation to prepare students for careers in conservation. The Dissertation, worth 60 credits, allows students to undertake an independent research project that explores a specialist area of interest, applying advanced research and analytical skills. Applied Research Methods provides the essential tools for designing and conducting scientific investigations, equipping students with the ability to handle complex data and evaluate results critically. Conservation Challenges focuses on the global issues threatening biodiversity, such as climate change, habitat loss, and human-wildlife conflict, encouraging students to develop strategies to address these pressing problems. Technology and Operations introduces cutting-edge tools and techniques, including drones, GIS, camera traps, and acoustic sensors, highlighting their application in monitoring and protecting wildlife. Conservation in Practice ensures students gain direct experience of fieldwork, from species identification and mapping to ecological surveys, applying both traditional and modern methods. The Placement Project, another 60-credit component, gives students the opportunity to work with external organisations in the conservation sector, building professional experience and networks. Together, these modules integrate theory, practice, and innovation, enabling graduates to contribute effectively to global conservation efforts.
