COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Water, Energy and the Environment is built around a series of core modules that integrate scientific principles, engineering practice, and sustainability to prepare students for professional roles in environmental management and engineering. The program culminates in a substantial 60-credit Research Project, allowing students to explore a specialised area in depth and apply advanced research and technical skills. Research Methodology supports this by equipping students with essential tools for investigation, data analysis, and critical evaluation. Technical knowledge is developed through modules such as Water and Wastewater Treatment, which examines design and operational processes for clean water provision, and Environmental Systems, which explores the interaction between natural and engineered environments. Sustainable Infrastructure focuses on creating environmentally responsible and resilient designs, while Energy and Carbon Management addresses strategies for reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency. River Basin Management provides insights into integrated approaches for managing water resources, balancing ecological, social, and economic needs. The Collaborative BIM Project introduces students to Building Information Modelling, enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration and project management skills. Collectively, these modules ensure graduates develop a broad yet specialised expertise in water, energy, and environmental engineering, positioning them to address global sustainability challenges through both practical solutions and innovative research.
