COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Strength and Conditioning program is structured around a set of core modules that integrate scientific research, practical application, and professional development to prepare students for advanced roles in the field. Research Methods introduces students to key skills in study design, analysis, and interpretation, which are applied in the substantial Research Project, allowing them to carry out independent investigations into an area of strength and conditioning. The Theoretical Foundations, Assessment and Monitoring of Strength and Conditioning Practice module provides a critical understanding of underpinning theory alongside the practical skills needed to assess, monitor, and optimise athletic performance. The program also covers the Fundamental Principles of Physical Performance through two specialist modules: Resistance Training, which explores methods to improve muscular strength and power, and Conditioning, which focuses on cardiovascular, metabolic, and movement-based adaptations for performance. Professional Practice in Strength and Conditioning ensures that students gain real-world applied experience, bridging theory with practice while developing the skills required to work effectively in elite sport and performance environments. Collectively, these modules provide a comprehensive education that balances research, theory, and applied training, equipping graduates with the expertise to work as practitioners, educators, or researchers in strength and conditioning.
