COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Physiology and Performance program offers a carefully designed set of core modules that develop both theoretical understanding and practical expertise in applied physiology. Students begin with Research Methods, a 20-credit module that provides the foundation for conducting scientific investigations, which is later applied in the 60-credit Research Project where independent study and advanced inquiry skills are developed. The program also focuses strongly on practical competencies through the Physiological Assessment module, ensuring students gain the ability to carry out a wide range of tests and measurements relevant to sport and exercise. Fundamental Sports Performance Physiology introduces essential physiological concepts underpinning athletic performance, while more specialised modules such as Physiology for Endurance Sports and Physiology for Intermittent or Team Sports allow students to explore the demands of different sporting contexts, from long-distance events to high-intensity team games. Additionally, the Professional Practice in Sport Physiology and Performance module equips students with the skills required to translate their knowledge into real-world applications, preparing them for careers in sports science, athletic support, or health settings.
