COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in International Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address contemporary global health challenges. The program combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, focusing on improving and protecting health across diverse populations. Core modules such as Public Health Essentials: From Theory to Practice and Improving and Protecting Health provide a solid grounding in the principles and strategies underpinning effective public health interventions. Students develop expertise in research methods through the Understanding Research and Informing Public Health modules, enabling them to critically evaluate evidence and apply it to real-world contexts. The Global Health and International Health and Development modules broaden students’ perspectives on health issues affecting populations worldwide, including low and middle-income countries, and emphasize the importance of social, environmental, and economic determinants of health. The dissertation allows students to undertake an in-depth research project, consolidating their knowledge and demonstrating their ability to contribute original insights to the field. Throughout the course, students gain skills in analysis, evaluation, and collaboration, preparing them for careers in public health policy, research, program management, or health promotion. The program ultimately fosters the capacity to improve population health, reduce health inequalities, and respond effectively to emerging global health challenges.
