COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Forensic Bioscience program offers a structured curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical expertise in the biological aspects of forensic science. Core modules provide a strong foundation, beginning with Bioanalytical Techniques, which develop essential laboratory and analytical skills for forensic investigations, and Forensic Bioscience, which explores the biological principles underpinning forensic practice. Law and Court Room Skills prepare students to understand the legal framework and effectively present evidence in judicial contexts, while Forensic Research Methods equips them with the tools to design and conduct rigorous scientific studies. Alongside the core learning, students can tailor their studies through optional modules such as Trace Evidence Analysis, which examines microscopic materials left at crime scenes, Taphonomy and Trauma Analysis, which focuses on processes affecting human remains, or Wildlife Forensic Science, which applies forensic methods to wildlife crime. A major element of the program is the choice between a Research Project or a Placement Project, each worth 60 credits, allowing students to either pursue independent research or gain valuable real-world experience in a professional setting. This flexible yet comprehensive program ensures graduates are prepared with advanced scientific, analytical, and professional skills for careers in forensic bioscience and related fields.
