COURSE CURRICULUM

The Climate Change MSc at Liverpool John Moores University equips students with the skills and knowledge to address environmental challenges and develop sustainable solutions in response to climate change. The program combines theoretical understanding with practical applications, using advanced tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) and environmental monitoring techniques. Core modules provide a comprehensive curriculum, beginning with Climate Change to 2100, which explores the scientific basis of climate change, its environmental and societal impacts, and global policy responses. Sustainable Infrastructure examines the design, operation, and management of resilient infrastructure to mitigate climate risks. Environmental Research Methods develop students’ analytical, project management, and data handling skills, while Climate Change and GIS offers hands-on experience applying GIS tools to study climate-related challenges. Sustainable Environmental Management investigates approaches to hazard response, ecosystem services, and long-term environmental stewardship. Environmental Monitoring and Modelling teaches practical skills for field-based and desk-based investigations, including aquatic pollution analysis and data-driven environmental assessments. The program culminates in an independent dissertation, allowing students to pursue a specialised research project that integrates theory and practice. By combining applied skills with research-led learning, graduates are prepared for careers in environmental management, consultancy, policy, or further academic research in climate science and sustainability.
