COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Biomedical Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University provides a comprehensive and industry-focused program designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in the biomedical sector. In the first part of the course, students study core modules including Medical Genetics, Advanced Biotechniques, Cell Technology, Diagnostics and Therapeutics, Current Issues in Biomedical Sciences, and Biomolecular Research Skills and Data Analysis. These modules provide a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of modern biomedical science, emphasizing the latest technologies, experimental techniques, and applications in research and healthcare. Students develop hands-on experience in laboratory methods, data analysis, and problem-solving, preparing them for work in diagnostic, research, or clinical environments. Optional modules include either a Research Project or a Placement Project, allowing students to specialise according to their career goals. The Research Project enables students to plan, conduct, and report independent scientific research, while the Placement Project offers industry experience and exposure to professional workflows, bridging the gap between academic study and employment.
