COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical study, research skills, and practical application to prepare students for careers in sport and exercise psychology. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core modules in professional practice, developmental psychology, cognitive and biological psychology, psychosocial principles of sport and exercise, and research methods, while developing academic and professional skills essential for the field. In the second year, the program advances students’ knowledge with modules on cognitive and biological psychology, exercise and health psychology, developmental and social psychology, and sport and performance psychology, alongside continued professional practice and research training. Optional opportunities such as a study year abroad allow students to gain international experience and enhance their applied skills. The final year emphasizes practical application, with an applied placement in sport and exercise psychology, applied motor behaviour, and current issues in the field, allowing students to translate theoretical knowledge into real-world contexts. Additionally, students complete a major research project, providing experience in designing, conducting, and reporting independent research.
