COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) degree provides a structured pathway that develops students into skilled, compassionate and confident practitioners ready for professional registration. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of nursing practice through modules on professional values, person-centred care, partnership working, and health promotion, alongside their first experiences of practice learning. The second year builds on this by focusing on interprofessional collaboration, legal and ethical frameworks, and health policy, while also developing competence in assessing and managing complexities in adult nursing care. Students further enhance their clinical abilities through developing practice learning placements. In the final year, the focus shifts towards preparing for leadership roles within healthcare, with modules on leadership, quality enhancement, risk management, and prescriber readiness. Students also explore health economics and policy, and refine their ability to plan and deliver person-centred care in complex situations. Consolidating practice learning placements ensure graduates leave with the competence and confidence to transition into professional practice. Across all three years, the program combines academic study with hands-on experience, equipping students with the theoretical knowledge, clinical skills and professional behaviours necessary to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in diverse healthcare settings.
