COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Science at Liverpool John Moores University is a comprehensive and practical program designed to prepare students for careers in forensic investigation and laboratory analysis. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in crime scene investigation, forensic science research methods, forensic chemistry, molecular bioscience, and forensic field skills, establishing essential scientific and analytical knowledge. The second year expands this foundation with advanced forensic methods, trace evidence analysis, analytical forensic science, and molecular forensics, while optional modules allow students to focus on conducting investigations, forensic human identification, or gain practical experience through a study year abroad or sandwich placement. In the final year, students develop expertise through advanced forensic methods, expert witness training, and a research project that consolidates practical, laboratory, and investigative skills. Additional optional modules in drug analysis, toxicology, modern forensic technologies, forensic bioscience, and forensic anthropological genetics allow students to tailor their studies to their specific career interests. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience in laboratories and field settings, developing meticulous attention to detail and the ability to apply scientific principles to legal contexts.
