COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice at Liverpool John Moores University offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum, integrating psychology and criminology to provide students with a deep understanding of criminal behaviour and justice systems. In the first year, students study core modules including the criminal justice system, criminological theory, forensic psychology, developmental and cognitive psychology, biological psychology, and research methods in psychology, building a strong foundation in both disciplines. In the second year, the program develops advanced knowledge in forensic psychology and criminal justice through modules such as exploring forensic psychology, professional development, cognitive and biological psychology, and social and developmental psychology, with optional modules covering specialized topics like penology, victimology, and new directions in criminological theory. The final year focuses on advanced study and independent research, including a dissertation, forensic and investigative psychology, and a wide array of optional modules such as policing, youth justice, substance use, comparative criminal justice, environmental crime, health psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and psychology of sexual violence.
