COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security at Liverpool John Moores University provides a comprehensive education designed to prepare students for careers in defending digital systems and networks. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in programming, computer systems architecture, data modelling, web development, and digital forensics, alongside problem-solving techniques specifically tailored for cyber security challenges. The curriculum builds a strong base in both theoretical understanding and practical application. In the second year, students deepen their expertise through modules in database systems, operating systems, system penetration testing, secure software development, and information security management, while also completing a collaborative group project. Opportunities for a sandwich year or study abroad allow students to gain real-world experience and broaden their perspective in international cyber security contexts. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced topics including network forensics, network defence, ethical hacking, and applied cryptography, culminating in a major individual project that integrates knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course.
