COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Construction Management at Liverpool John Moores University provides a comprehensive and professionally-accredited education in the design, management, and delivery of construction projects. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through core modules covering economics and management principles, construction technology, professional competencies, science and materials, and practical construction management in practice. This year equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to understand the construction process and prepare for more advanced study. The second year develops this knowledge further with modules on construction technology, contracts, site production management, procurement and tendering, geomatics, and construction management in practice, with opportunities for optional study abroad or a sandwich year placement to gain hands-on experience in professional settings. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through advanced modules such as construction research projects, construction site management, project lifecycle management, strategic construction project management, and business management, providing a holistic understanding of managing complex projects from inception to completion. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on practical application, problem-solving, and the integration of technical knowledge with management and leadership skills, ensuring graduates are fully prepared to enter the construction industry with the expertise, confidence, and professional experience required to succeed in a range of construction management roles.
