COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Data Science at Liverpool John Moores University combines a strong foundation in computer science with specialized training in data science, preparing students for careers in software development, data analytics, business intelligence, and technology-driven sectors. In the first year, students develop essential skills in programming, computer systems architecture, data modelling, web development, and fundamental computer science principles, supported by professional practice and practical workshops. The second year builds on these foundations with modules in database systems, operating systems, algorithm design, data analytics, and computational theory, alongside a collaborative group project that develops teamwork and problem-solving skills. Students also have the option to gain industry experience through a sandwich year or a study abroad year, enhancing their practical knowledge and employability. The final year focuses on advanced applications, including business intelligence, applied data science, contemporary computer science concepts, computer graphics and visualisation, and a substantial independent project, allowing students to consolidate their technical expertise and demonstrate practical competence.
