COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computer Games Development at Liverpool John Moores University provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines technical expertise with practical experience in game development. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with modules covering computer systems architecture, professional practice, data modelling, fundamentals of games programming, maths and 2D graphics, web development, and an introduction to video game studies. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics such as data structures and algorithms for games, 3D computer graphics, digital games content production, software engineering for games, user experience design, and collaborative group projects. Optional opportunities for a sandwich year or study abroad provide students with practical, real-world experience in industry or international contexts, enhancing their employability and professional development. The final year emphasizes advanced skills and independent work through a major project alongside modules in advanced 3D games development, mixed reality technologies, advanced topics in games development, and advanced graphics techniques.
