COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology at Liverpool John Moores University provides a progressive learning pathway that develops design, technical, and professional skills needed for a career in the built environment. In the first year, students are introduced to key areas through modules in architectural design studios, construction technology, science and materials, passive design and specification, and digital design and technology, giving a strong foundation in both creative and technical aspects of architectural practice. The second year builds on this with modules in building refurbishment and design, procurement and contracts, property development, sustainable architectural technology, and a sustainable buildings project, alongside further construction technology studies. At this stage, students also have the option to undertake a sandwich placement year or study abroad to broaden their professional and cultural experience. In the final year, students focus on advanced practice and independent work through modules in advanced architectural design, detailed design, professional practice, and design management with Building Information Modelling (BIM). A major component is the dissertation, which allows students to explore a specialist area of interest in depth. The course integrates technical knowledge, sustainability, and industry engagement, preparing graduates for professional roles in architectural technology and related fields.
