COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University provides students with a rigorous combination of theoretical knowledge and practical experience essential for a career in engineering. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core modules in engineering mathematics, digital and analogue electronics, circuit analysis, software development for embedded systems, and professional practice, developing essential analytical and technical skills. The second year deepens this knowledge with modules on embedded systems programming, electric machines, power systems and clean energy, instrumentation and control engineering, linear electronics design, local communications systems, and an integrative professional practice project. Students also have the option to undertake a sandwich year or a study abroad year to gain hands-on industry experience and broaden their global perspective. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced topics including signals and systems with real-world applications, power electronics, energy-efficient drives, engineering management, and an extensive engineering project, providing opportunities to integrate theory with practical problem-solving. Optional modules such as automation, IoT, further electronic design, and process control allow students to specialize in areas of interest. This structured approach ensures graduates develop the technical competence, professional skills, and industry exposure required to excel in electrical and electronic engineering careers while enhancing employability and career prospects.
