COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Media Production at Liverpool John Moores University offers a structured, hands-on curriculum designed to develop both creative and professional skills for the media industry. In the first year, students build a foundation in digital workflows, moving image, storytelling, audio production, project management, and an industries portfolio that introduces them to professional practice. The second year advances these skills with core modules in mixed realities, postproduction, digital marketing, fiction production, and a second industries portfolio. Students also have the option to broaden their experience through studying abroad for a semester or full year, or by specialising in non-fiction documentary or TV studio production, where they can create and broadcast a live show. The final year allows students to refine their expertise with modules in development and distribution, digital disruption, and specialisms, alongside a major independent project and a third industries portfolio. This project serves as a professional calling card, showcasing technical ability, creativity, and innovation. The course blends traditional production skills with emerging technologies such as VR, AR, and immersive storytelling, while also embedding marketing and distribution knowledge. Graduates leave with a strong portfolio, practical experience, and the creative confidence to succeed in a competitive industry.
