COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) International Tourism Management at Liverpool John Moores University offers a structured program designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills and industry experience. In the first year, students are introduced to the foundations of tourism through modules such as Introduction to International Tourism, Tourism and Place, and Destination Liverpool, alongside developing academic, digital literacy, leadership, and marketing skills tailored for tourism and events. The second year builds on this foundation with a stronger professional focus, including modules on Employability Skills, Tourism, Culture and Society, Practical Digital Marketing Skills, Responsible Tourism and Sustainability, and Engage Liverpool, which provides opportunities for hands-on learning within the city. Students also undertake a small research project through Investigating Tourism and can choose from optional modules such as Visitor Attraction Management or Modern Languages for Business. Additional opportunities include study abroad or a sandwich year placement in tourism, sport, or events. In the final year, students complete a Dissertation alongside modules in Tourism and Heritage, Strategic Management, and International Tourism Development. Optional modules in Entrepreneurship and Innovation or Business Consultancy further allow students to specialise and gain professional insights, ensuring graduates are prepared for diverse roles in the global tourism industry.
