COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Interior Architecture program is structured around a progressive series of design projects and supporting modules that build students’ creative, technical and professional skills. In the first year, students gain a global understanding of architectural design history and theory while developing fundamental skills in drawing and exploring buildings. Design modules introduce concepts of light, space, form, narrative, and spatial sequencing, alongside practical explorations and crafted spatial propositions. The year also covers environmental and structural design to establish a strong technical foundation. In the second year, the focus shifts to modernism and its influence on architecture, while students engage with adaptive reuse projects that explore the origination and resolution of reimagined spaces. Integrated design modules combine creative and technical approaches, supported by studies in environmental technology and the use of Building Information Modelling. An optional study abroad semester is also available. By the third year, students are expected to undertake more independent and comprehensive projects, beginning with research to inform a major design project. They complete an extensive interior remodelling project with integrated supporting studies and a final comprehensive design project. Professional practice and legislation are embedded, preparing graduates for ethical and responsible roles in the architectural field.
